    Crude Sunflower Oil

Crude Sunflower Oil – Vegetable Oil Feedstock product from Bio Green Fuels

    About This Product

Crude sunflower oil is expressed and extracted from the seed of Helianthus annuus and supplied unrefined or degummed, carrying CAS number 8001-21-6. The important commercial point is that it is not one feedstock but two, and they behave differently enough that the seed type should be stated on every enquiry. Standard sunflower oil is a linoleic oil, carrying roughly 60 to 70 percent linoleic acid. That gives a low saturated content and therefore a good cloud point, but two double bonds per chain make it oxidatively fragile, and the resulting methyl ester needs substantial antioxidant treatment to hold an induction period. High-oleic sunflower, bred to invert the ratio, carries 80 percent or more oleic acid and under 10 percent linoleic. One double bond per chain instead of two gives several times the oxidation stability while keeping saturated content low, so high-oleic sunflower methyl ester combines good cold flow with good storage stability, a combination few feedstocks offer. It commands a premium accordingly. Both types are used for FAME biodiesel, hydrotreated renewable diesel and HEFA aviation pathways. Bio Green Fuels supplies crude sunflower oil to specification on seed type and oleic content, free fatty acid, moisture and impurities, phosphorus, iodine value and colour, with ISCC certification available.
