粗菜籽油是欧洲生物柴油的基准原料。其油酸含量高、饱和脂肪酸含量低，使菜籽油甲酯具有各主要脂肪酸甲酯（FAME）中最佳的低温流动性能，因此在温带市场占据主导地位。
