    About This Product

    In a biodiesel plant, caustic soda earns its keep at several points in the process. Dissolved in methanol it forms sodium methoxide, the base catalyst that drives transesterification of vegetable oils, used cooking oil and animal fats into methyl esters. Upstream, it neutralises free fatty acids during feedstock pretreatment and splits soapstock into acid oil; downstream, it is used in crude glycerine purification and wash-water treatment. We supply technical-grade material at 99.0% NaOH minimum with low carbonate, low chloride and iron below 50 ppm, EU and UK REACH registered. Fast-dissolving 0.4–0.6 mm pearls suit continuous methoxide preparation and accurate dosing; flakes are the economical choice for batch dissolution. Class 8 corrosive (UN 1823) — handle with appropriate PPE and store dry.
